Almost everyone has a pair of those practical summertime footwear staples, flip flops. On August 23, yours could actually make you a little cash. The Queen Anne’s County Arts Council is holding its first annual “Fabulous Flip Flop Contest” in conjunction with the series final free “Thursdays in the Park” concert.
Flowers, ribbon, shells, toys, or any embellishment your imagination can conjure up to create a flip flop that is fashion forward will be considered. There is a $1 entry fee and the first prize winner will win half of the fees collected. Other prizes include gift certificates and Arts Council memberships. Board member Kathy Kowalski and volunteer Nora Spicer are scheduled as contest judges.
Enter the contest between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., winners will be announced during intermission. Bobby and the Believers end the series with a great mix of Motown, R&B, at the Kent Island Yacht Club in Chester. Food and drink available for sale, no alcoholic beverages may be brought in to this location.
